Community Partnership examples
Local Councillors, learners, staff and parents across The Hessle Academy Community Trust meet on a half termly basis to discuss local issues and deliver on solutions. One success of this Council included securing £10000 from BP to improve a local skatepark.
Senior students and staff regularly attend Town Council meetings to discuss and share ideas relating to Community Events and the Environment. Successes included a co-ordinated community Christmas Light Switch and Hessle Feast event held in the summer. Both events attract over 5000 and help to celebrate a truly cohesive community spirit.
St Anne’s Special School
Sixth Form students and staff from St Anne’s Special School in Welton attend Hessle High Sixth Form College for two days per week. Not only do they share the social space in the Sixth Form Centre but they have also undertaken an extensive Work Placement as part of The Hessle Academy Community Trust’s Premises Team. They have instigated and co-ordinated a whole school recycling programme. A great achievement and significant contribution to school life.
Hessle Community Sports Facilities Trust
Chaired by Cllr Paul Hogan and whose Patron is the Rt Hon Alan Johnson MP, this Trust was established by community sports clubs in October 2010. The aim of this Trust is to work together to provide a cohesive approach to sports provision for all in the Hessle and surrounding area. Successes include securing £5000 from Sportivate to provide coaching for young people aged 14 – 25 in Hessle.
Hull Kingston Rovers
Hull Kingston Rovers have worked in partnership with the school for over two years to provide advice and guidance to young people as One-To-One Mentors, Inspirational Speakers and provided the Leadership Team with advice and support related to Sporting Community links.
