Penshurst Primary School age 6-11

Penshurst Primary School is a ‘successful and effective school’ which embraces the whole child. We secure high standards as a result of our ‘teachers having high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and participation’, and achieve continuous improvement for all our children. All our children enjoy coming to school, as a result behaviour is outstanding. This is underpinned by the schools ‘exemplary safeguarding procedures.’

Through our Thematic Curriculum we ensure all children’s experiences are challenging, realistic and exciting. Penshurst Primary offers ‘an extensive range of visits and visiting professionals which enrich the learning’ and develops links with the outside world. This is enhanced by the array of extra curricular activities that are on offer on a daily basis. From judo to embroidery

The school is characterised by the strong relationships between staff and pupils. This is facilitated by Restorative Practice which challenges our children to be independent, to solve problems and create their own solutions in a supportive environment. ‘Pupils get along well together because of the caring and supportive ethos the school has created’. This ensures all our children achieve their potential and all children have a positive outlook on learning.

There are a number of opportunities for parents to be fully engaged in their child’s learning and events such as ‘Challenge Days’, ‘Afritwin Day’ 'British Days' and theme assemblies are extremely popular. The school works together with parents and carers as we believe that together we can enhance the life chances of all our children.
