At Hessle High School, students are supported in developing effective study skills by their subject specialist teachers, who embed revision strategies and independent learning techniques into their lessons.
At Key Stage 4, students also receive additional guidance through tutor time. Our Study Skills programme is delivered by form tutors and focusses on equipping students with practical strategies to support effective revision. Use strategies such as RAG rating, prioritising topics, and checking existing knowledge to identify gaps.
Step 2: Decide HOW to revise
Select appropriate revision techniques and activities that support long-term memory and understanding.

Complete practice questions and tests to apply knowledge and strengthen recall.
Step 4: REVIEW revision
Reflect on what worked well, identify areas for improvement, and adjust revision strategies accordingly.
