Penshurst Primary School

Homework

As a parent or carer you can play a vital role in your child’s education, including homework.

At Penshurst, our belief is that the most important thing your child can learn at school is to read. As a result, we ask all our families to join us in our "10 minute pledge". Research has shown that 20 minutes of reading every day can really help to increase a childs success at school and in later life. Therefore, we promise to read to your child (above and beyond our other lessons) for 10 minutes every day and simply ask you to match that at home. This can be reading to your child or listening to them read to you.

Google Classroom has been introduced for all pupils from Years 1 - 6 (Tapestry for FS2 pupils) and it is here where homework tasks can be accessed. This is also where teachers will communicate any year group messages. Every week Reading Egg and Education City links will be available should you wish to complete them.Sometimes the tasks will be to consolidate the weeks learning and other times to assess what the children already know about a topic.

If you would like to share anything that you are doing at home with your child we have an email address to send photos and information to: seewhatidid@hessleacademy.com. Please note this is an inbound email address only, emails will not be answered on this account. Please mark any emails for the attention of your child's teacher.
