How to enrol your child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery)
We have a 52 place full time equivalent Nursery (Foundation Stage 1) which caters for all children regardless of ability. If you would like to visit the Nursery please contact us as we would be delighted to show you and your child around and to answer any questions that you may have.
Please be aware that attending the school nursery does not automatically guarantee a place in the school, and you must still apply in the normal way. If you are interested in applying for a place, please complete our Application Form which can be downloaded here and return it to the school, alternatively you can contact us to request an application form.

Penshurst Primary School has 60 places per year group available to pupils. We are not selective and recruit from the full ability range of children in accordance with the National Fair admissions policy.
Applications received relating to children with statements of special educational needs will be dealt with in accordance with the National code of Practice on Special Educational Needs. Where a school is named in a child’s statement of educational special needs, the school has a duty to admit the child.

We have 180 places available to new Year 7 students, with 70 places reserved for pupils from our primary stage. We are not selective and recruit from the full ability range of children in accordance with the National Fair admissions policy.

If you want to apply for a place in Year 7 at Hessle High School for entry in September, you will need to nominate us as your preferred school on the common application form and send it completed to your home local authority, or complete the online application. Please visit your local authority website for more specific information on how to apply.
Appeals
Appeals for ‘in-year’ school admission requests are normally held within 30 school days of the date you appeal is received. You will be notified of the date of your appeal no later than ten school days before the appeal is due to take place.
Appeals for entry into Year 7 to start secondary school for the first time – what are called ‘normal’ admission requests – are usually held in the summer term after parents/ carers have been notified of the refusal of a school place, commonly in June and July.
Starting school in September 2025
Do you have a child commencing Secondary school in September 2025? Our Open Event has now passed, but for an opportunity to visit our school, meet our staff and students and speak to our Headteacher, Mr Groak, please contact us.
For applications to start a secondary school for the first time in September 2025, appeal forms should be submitted by the parent/carers by Friday 18 April 2025 and appeals are planned to be held between May, June and July 2025.

Transport - please note from 1 October 2022 new starters will no longer be eligible for subsidised transport unless using the school bus service routes H1, H2, H3 or H4 currently provided by East Yorkshire Motor Services.

How to apply for The Consortium Sixth Form College
Every year new students are welcomed into the Sixth Form College. Places are prioritised for the Trust students however students also join us from other local secondary schools. If you are currently studying at Hessle High School and would like to apply to the Sixth Form, you should see the Director of Sixth Form.
If you are applying from a different school, please register your interest in joining the Sixth Form by completing this form. Applications should be submitted by February. Late applications will be accepted right up until the start of September, but you may find some subjects are full.

Applying from inside East Yorkshire
If you live in the East Riding of Yorkshire you will need to apply to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's School Admissions Team. View more information on East Riding of Yorkshire Council's co-ordinated admissions scheme.
Applying from outside East Yorkshire
If you live outside the East Riding of Yorkshire you must apply for a school place through the local authority responsible for the area where you live, even if you want a place at a school in another local authority's area. Your home local authority will then forward your application to the East Riding to consider.
